Energy Drinks: Scientific Facts and Data
The European Food Safety Authority (EFSA) is the fundamental pillar of risk assessment in the area of food safety in the European Union. EFSA stands out for its independence as it is an independent European authority financed through the EU budget, and which works independently of the European Commission, the European Parliament, and the EU member states. EFSA is commissioned to produce scientific reports from the European Commission, the European Parliament, and EU member states and carries out scientific work on its own initiative.
Because energy drinks in their current popular format and represented by the main brands worldwide have been created in Europe, EFSA is constituted as a fundamental pillar of risk assessment and ingredients of energy drinks and in that sense, has published several scientific reports related to the ingredients of energy drinks that we highlight below:
- Scientific Opinion on the substantiation of health claims related to niacin and reduction of tiredness and fatigue (informe sobre el aseguramiento científico de los datos relacionados con la salud en lo relativo a la niacina y la reducción del cansancio y el agotamiento), publicado en 2010.
- Scientific Opinion on the substantiation of health claims related to pantothenic acid and reduction of tiredness and fatigue (informe sobre el aseguramiento científico de los datos relacionados con la salud en lo relativo al ácido pantoténico y la reducción del cansancio y el agotamiento), publicado en 2010.
- Scientific Opinion on the substantiation of health claims related to vitamin B6 and reduction of tiredness and fatigue (informe sobre el aseguramiento científico de los datos relacionados con la salud en lo relativo a la vitamina B6 y la reducción del cansancio y el agotamiento), publicado en 2010.
- Scientific Opinion on the substantiation of health claims related to vitamin B12 and reduction of tiredness and fatigue (informe sobre el aseguramiento científico de los datos relacionados con la salud en lo relativo a la vitamina B12 y la reducción del cansancio y el agotamiento), publicado en 2010.
- Scientific Opinion on the substantiation of health claims related to pantothenic acid and mental performance (informe sobre el aseguramiento científico de los datos relacionados con la salud en lo relativo al ácido pantoténico y el rendimiento mental), publicado en 2009.
